Amazon wishlist alternative
An Amazon wishlist alternative that never asks for your home address
Since March 25, 2026, you can no longer keep third-party sellers from filling gift orders from your Amazon wish list, and those sellers get the recipient's address. WishFinch is a shareable list with links to Amazon or any other store. It never asks where you live.
Staying on Amazon? Set your list's shipping address to None, or make the list Private. Steps below. Facts checked November 5, 2026.
What Amazon changed
Amazon wish lists used to let the owner restrict gift purchases to items sold by Amazon itself, so third-party sellers were left out of those orders. In February 2026, Amazon emailed owners of public lists that had a shipping address attached. The email said that option would end on March 25, 2026 (TechSpot, 404 Media). Amazon Germany confirmed the date to heise online.
Since then, anyone buying from your list may pick an offer from a third-party seller. Amazon's help page on wish list addresses says sellers fulfilling such an order receive:
- the recipient's name
- the shipping address
- a phone number
- an email address, anonymized in most cases, Amazon says
The list itself still shows givers only your name, city and state, and Amazon says it doesn't share your address directly with them. But Amazon told heise that when a public list has an address linked, gift buyers "may receive the recipient's address through sellers and delivery partners," because those partners share delivery updates and tracking with the buyer.
How to keep your address off an Amazon list
- Set the list's address to None. Go to Your Lists, open the list, select the three dots, then Manage list, and set the shipping address to None. Givers can then ship to any address they enter at checkout, and sellers may write to you through Amazon with questions (heise).
- Make the list Private (heise). A Private list is for you alone, so nobody can buy from it. Shared, Amazon's other suggestion, only narrows who can buy: anyone with the link still can, and a third-party seller still gets your address.
- Use a PO box or a work address (404 Media, TechSpot). A PO box costs money, and you have to pick up every gift.
Older guides point to a setting that kept third-party sellers out. That option is gone.
Who this affects
You're affected if your Amazon list is public with an address attached. The first to speak up were adult content creators, and 404 Media says influencers and other public figures who get gifts from fans are especially exposed. The worst case, as heise describes it: someone registers as a seller of an item on your list, buys it from a second account, and learns your address from the order.
The same goes for a Shared list if its link spreads beyond people you know. If your list only goes to family and close friends, the change matters less. They already know your address.
How WishFinch is different
- No home address, ever. There is no address field to fill in. WishFinch doesn't sell or ship anything, so there is no order for a seller to see. See our privacy page for what we do keep.
- No account for anyone. You get a private link to edit your list and a separate link to share. Givers open the share link in any browser.
- Any store. Paste a link from Amazon, Walmart, Target or a small shop. Givers buy wherever the link goes.
- No spoilers. Givers mark what they'll buy so nobody doubles up, and your edit page doesn't show what's taken (unless you mark the list as a child's).
Givers ship the gift to themselves and hand it over, or send it to you if they already know your address. That makes WishFinch a good fit for family and friends, whether it's a Christmas list or a birthday wishlist. If you get gifts from strangers, such as fans, use a service that places the order and keeps your address from them, like Throne.
How to move your Amazon wish list
- Start a WishFinch list. It takes a few seconds, and there's no sign-up.
- Open your Amazon list, open an item, and copy its link from the address bar or the app's Share button.
- Paste the link into your WishFinch list. It fills in the name and picture, and the price when Amazon's page shows it. Add a note for size or color.
- Repeat for each item. There is no import yet, so this is one link at a time.
- Send your new share link to family and friends.
- On Amazon, make the old list Private or delete it.

Questions
Did Amazon undo the change?
We found no announcement reversing it. On November 5, 2026, Amazon's help page still said that sellers fulfilling a wish list order receive the recipient's name, shipping address and phone number.
Can a gift buyer see my address?
Not on the list itself: it shows only your name, city and state. But Amazon says buyers may get it through the seller's and carrier's delivery updates when your list is public and has an address attached.
Does this affect Shared or Private lists?
A Private list is for you alone, so nobody can buy from it. A Shared list opens only by its link, but anyone with the link can buy from it, and if the list has an address attached, a third-party seller gets your address.
Does this apply outside the US?
Amazon Germany confirmed the same change to heise, so it isn't only amazon.com. Check your own list's settings whichever Amazon store you use.
Can people buy items from my WishFinch list on Amazon?
Yes. An item with an Amazon link opens the product page on Amazon, and the giver orders it like any other purchase.
